Żabka’s food model is a franchise kitchen, not a U.S. roller grill

Couche-Tard’s July 31 bid is about 13,000 stores and a food reputation. The U.S. facing does not change today.

July 31, 2026 — Alimentation Couche-Tard said it would tender for Żabka, the Polish convenience chain with more than 13,000 stores in Poland and Romania. The company described a franchise model and a food reputation. The price talked around the bid is about $8.6 billion. Closing, the company has said, is a fiscal-2027 event if regulators agree.

For a U.S. snack and beverage buyer the announcement changes nothing on the cooler this week. Żabka is not a Circle K planogram. It is a parent saying it wants a scaled food, digital, and supply-chain system in Europe. If any of that shows up as a U.S. pack, a bun, or a dispensed program, it will show up later, in a store, with a facing.

Until then the file is a deal. The impulse set is still the impulse set.
