Save A Lot’s J. Higgs bacon-cheddar chips pulled for undeclared soy

NEW YORK — Sept. 21, 2026 — Saratoga Potato Chips of Fort Wayne, Indiana, is recalling 7.75-ounce bags of J. Higgs Loaded Bacon and Cheddar potato chips because they may contain undeclared soy, the Food and Drug Administration posted on Sept. 18. The company announcement date on the notice is Sept. 16. The bags were sold at Save A Lot stores in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, and Maryland.

The notice names UPC 0-51933-31645-4 and two codes printed on the top right of the bag: Best if USED BY DEC 11 26 and Best if USED BY DEC 18 26. No illnesses or injuries have been reported, the company said. The notice says the problem was found in a company review and that the recall is ongoing.

The date on the notice

The same FDA page says the recall was initiated on Sept. 15, 2025. That date is a year earlier than the company announcement date and the FDA publish date. This file is repeating the dates printed on the notice. It is not choosing between them.

Soy is a major allergen. A bag that does not declare it is a pull. Save A Lot is the channel the notice names. The SKU is a 7.75-ounce flexible bag, the size a limited-assortment set stocks. A different size, a different brand, or a club pack is not this recall.
