Energy and water are different cooler doors
The margin is in the door, not in a blended “beverage” line.
July 2, 2026 — A convenience cooler is a set of doors with different jobs. Energy is a high-ring, high-turn door. Water is a price-pack door. Fountain is a dispensed business with labor and waste the packaged door does not have. Writing all three as “beverage” is how a planogram loses the door that paid.
The customer on a fuel lot is not walking a grocery perimeter. Two doors is a common constraint. The question is which brand earns the cold space at the ring the store can defend, not which brand won a national share deck.
When the public chains report summer inside sales, the sentence to keep is the one that names energy, water, or fountain. A blended beverage line is a warehouse view. The store does not sell a blend.
