Couche-Tard named energy drinks and nicotine, not “beverage,” for the inside gain
U.S. same-store merchandise rose 1.7 percent. The company said which categories did it.
Sept. 2, 2026 — Couche-Tard’s U.S. same-store merchandise revenue rose 1.7 percent in the 12 weeks ended July 19. The company did not call it a beverage win. It said the growth was in energy drinks and other nicotine products, where it is gaining share, partly offset by pricing it cut to keep the stop feeling fair.
Europe rose 1.2 percent on the same categories. Canada was unchanged. Total merchandise and service revenue was $4.9 billion, up 4.1 percent, with acquisitions doing a large share of the dollar increase. The same-store sentence is the one a buyer can use. Energy and nicotine paid. A blended cooler story did not.
CEO Alex Miller also said food. Food is in the quote. It is not in the same-store attribution the way energy and nicotine are. A kitchen investment can be real and still not be the line that moved the 1.7 percent.
