Casey’s said whole pizzas led a 5.5% inside same-store quarter
Darren Rebelez, on the record, June 9: prepared food and non-alcoholic beverages. The chain closed July at 2,959 doors.
NEW YORK — Sept. 8, 2026 — Casey’s General Stores said fourth-quarter inside same-store sales rose 5.5 percent, “driven by strong performance in whole pizzas as well as appetizers and sides in the prepared food and dispensed beverage category in addition to non-alcoholic beverages in the grocery and general merchandise category.” That sentence is from the company’s June 9, 2026, earnings release. It is on the record. It is a convenience foodservice file, not a grocery share ranking.
For the full fiscal year ended April 30, inside same-store sales were up 4.2 percent, or 7.0 percent on a two-year stack, President and CEO Darren Rebelez said, “led by strong performance in prepared foods and non-alcoholic beverages.” Total inside sales in the fourth quarter were up 7.4 percent. Inside margin was up about 120 basis points versus the prior-year quarter, the company said, on cost of goods, waste, and mix. The sauced-wings program was in nearly 850 stores as of April 30.
The kitchen inherited the trip
Casey’s operated 2,944 stores at year-end and 2,959 as of July 31, the 10-K and subsequent 10-Q said. All but six of the year-end doors sold fuel. The gallon brought the trip. Whole pizza and appetizers are the second spend. That is the same math a travel-center kitchen runs, at a smaller box. A suburban QSR royalty story does not explain a 5.5 percent inside same-store print that the company itself tied to pizza and sides.
Rebelez also said fiscal 2026 fuel gross profit increased 21 percent as the fuel team “balanced gallons sold with fuel margin.” Fourth-quarter fuel gallons sold rose 3.6 percent. The two machines are in the same release for a reason. A snack or foodservice buyer who reads only the pizza line and ignores the gallon line is reading half the ticket. A fuel buyer who ignores the pizza line is reading the other half.
What this desk takes from the filing
A named CEO, a dated release, a same-store split the company already made, and a store count the SEC already has. We will not invent a chain’s pizza mix. We will not treat a booth monitor as a substitute for that sentence. When the next 10-Q restates inside same-store or the prepared-food mix, that restatement is the follow. Until then, Casey’s has said whole pizzas and appetizers moved the quarter, and that the chain that sold them also sold gallons at nearly every door.
