If it cannot be eaten in the cab, it is not an impulse item

Messiness and pack size still knock destination brands off a fuel-lot set.

Aug. 20, 2026 — The convenience customer is leaving. The item either goes with them in one hand or it stays. Coatings that smear, bags that need two hands, and packs sized for a pantry are grocery items that happened to get a ride on a fuel-lot truck.

Suppliers still pitch destination brands into impulse meetings. The meeting feels productive because the brand is known. The set does not care. Four feet, a price ladder, and a pack the store can receive on the route it already has. That is the whole spec.

If the chain does not have the footage, the brand does not have a convenience launch. It has a grocery launch with a c-store slide in the appendix.
